Cajun Shrimp Pasta is an easy, delicious dinner that's ready in about 20 minutes. Shrimp and pasta tossed in a spicy alfredo sauce.

Shrimp is the perfect protein for a really fast and easy weeknight dinner. It cooks in literally less than 5 minutes and is so versatile. And if you can catch it on sale, it makes for a pretty affordable meal.
This shrimp is cooked in Cajun seasoning and then tossed with pasta and a sauce that I'd describe as a spicy alfredo. It's an classic alfredo sauce made with butter, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese but then you add more Cajun seasoning!
In the time it takes you to cook the pasta, the shrimp will be cooked and the sauce will be done. In about 20 minutes, dinner is done!

Ingredients
- Pasta - I used penne for this recipe but you can use any small pasta shape or even spaghetti or linguine!
- Olive oil - the shrimp gets cooked in olive oil. You could really use any cooking oil, like avocado or vegetable.
- Shrimp - if buying frozen shrimp, make sure it's completely defrosted before beginning.
- Cajun seasoning - I use Slap Ya Mama Cajun seasoning. The shrimp gets tossed with the seasoning before cooking and even more goes into the sauce.
- Butter
- Garlic
- Heavy cream - this makes for a really rich, decadent sauce.
- Parmesan cheese - I highly recommend buying a wedge of Parmesan cheese and grating it yourself. The pre-shredded cheese is coated with anti-clumping agents that don't allow it to melt well.
- Roma tomato - you could use any tomato but roma tomatoes don't have as many seeds or as much juice and I don't like the look or feel of tomato seeds in this sauce. I still remove what seeds and juice the woman tomato has.

How To Make Cajun Shrimp Pasta
- Cook pasta. Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain.
- Cook shrimp. Toss shrimp in Cajun seasoning. Cook over medium-high heat in olive oil until cooked through. Remove from pan.
- Make sauce. Melt butter in the same skillet. Add garlic and cook about 30 seconds. Whisk in heavy cream and Cajun seasoning. Simmer until thickened. Add Parmesan cheese and tomato.
- Combine. Add shrimp and cooked pasta to the sauce. Toss to coat.
- Top. Sprinkle Parmesan and chopped parsley on top before serving.
What To Serve With It?
I typically serve this with a garlic rolls and a simple green salad.

How Long Is It Good For?
Cajun shrimp pasta will be fine in the fridge for up to 3 days. Make sure to store it in an airtight container.
You can reheat in the microwave when you are ready to serve. The sauce will likely thicken up in the fridge so you may need to stir some extra cream or even water to get it back to it's saucy consistency.
Can You Freeze It?
You can freeze Cajun shrimp pasta for up to 3 months. Let it cool completely and transfer to an airtight container.
When you are ready to serve it, let it defrost overnight in the refrigerator and reheat in the microwave.
