Baked Ham and Cheese Croissants are easy, delicious, and ready in less than 20 minutes! Buttery croissants filled with ham and cheese and topped with a honey mustard glaze.
You know those ham and swiss cheese sliders that everyone loves? These are basically them but on croissants.
Which means they’re a lot easier because, let’s be real, it’s almost impossible to get an even cut on that loaf of Hawaiian bread sliders.
It’s buttery croissants filled with swiss cheese and ham and then you brush a delicious honey mustard glaze with poppy seeds on top. They bake for about 7 minutes, just long enough to melt the cheese and warm them through, and they’re done!
So easy, so delicious! They’re great for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. And make extra to keep in the fridge or freezer for easy meals throughout the week!
Ingredients
- Croissants – the big croissants from your grocery store’s bakery. They make perfect-sized sandwiches.
- Swiss cheese – you can also use gruyere if you happen to have it on hand. The flavor of Swiss and gruyere just go so well with ham and the buttery croissants.
- Ham – just regular thinly sliced ham that you would put on any sandwich.
- Butter – this is getting brushed on the tops of the croissants and makes them get a little extra browned and crispy when baked.
- Honey – it’s going to add just a hint of sweetness to the tops of the croissants.
- Dijon mustard – this is a nice contrast to the sweet honey and adds a little zing to the sandwich.
- Poppy seeds – these make the sandwiches so pretty but they also add a nice little crunch to the croissants.
How To Make Baked Ham and Cheese Croissants
- Prepare. Cut croissants in half and place the bottoms on a baking sheet.
- Layer. Add cheese, ham, and more cheese to each croissant bottom.
- Top. Add top of the croissants to the sandwiches.
- Make glaze. Whisk together melted butter, honey, dijon mustard, and poppy seeds.
- Glaze. Use a pastry brush to brush the glaze onto each croissant.
- Bake. Bake at 375F for 6 – 8 minutes.
How Long Are They Good For?
These ham and cheese croissants are good for up to 3 days in the fridge. Make sure to store them in an airtight container.
You can reheat them in the microwave when you’re ready to serve them.
Can You Freeze Them?
These croissants are very freezer friendly. I like to make extras to use as easy breakfasts during the school week.
Let them cool completely and then wrap them individually in plastic wrap. I put them in a freezer ziploc bag just to add an extra layer of protection.
When you are ready to serve them, let them defrost overnight and then reheat in the microwave. If you forget to pull them out of the freezer the night before, you can defrost in the microwave.
