Korean Ground Beef is a flavorful dinner that’s ready in just 20 minutes! Ground beef simmered in a sweet and spicy Korean barbecue inspired sauce.
This is one of our favorite dinners. It’s quick, I always have all the ingredients on hand, and it’s just so delicious.
In the time it takes you to cook up the ground beef, you can mix up your sauce ingredients. I can make it in 15 minutes from start to finish! We like to serve it over rice with some roasted broccoli or green beans on the side.
Ingredients
- Soy sauce – I recommend a low-sodium soy sauce so that the final dish isn’t too salty. If you are gluten free, coconut aminos is a great substitute.
- Brown sugar – you can use honey instead if you prefer.
- Sesame oil – this is less of a cooking oil and more to add flavor. You should be able to find it in the Asian food section of any large grocery store.
- Garlic
- Ground ginger – you can use fresh ginger if you have it on hand.
- Sriracha – this really balances out the sweetness of the brown sugar. You can adjust the amount of sriracha based on your taste.
- Ground beef
- Green onions – these are going on top of the finished dish.
- Sesame seeds – I love roasted sesame seeds but any sesame seeds work.
How To Make Korean Ground Beef
- Make sauce. Whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ground ginger, and sriracha.
- Cook meat. Cook ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks, until cooked through. Drain and return to pan.
- Add sauce. Add sauce and stir to combine.
- Simmer. Let ground beef simmer until sauce has thickened and coats the meat.
- Serve. Serve with green onions and sesame seeds on top.
How Long Is It Good For?
Korean Ground Beef is good for up to 3 days. Make sure to store it in an airtight container in the fridge.
You can reheat it on the stove or in the microwave.
Can You Freeze It?
You can freeze Korean Ground Beef for up to 3 months. Let it cool completely and then put it in a freezer-safe container (like a freezer ziploc bag) and place it in the freezer.
When you are ready to serve it, let it defrost overnight in the fridge and reheat on the stove or microwave. If it’s no saucy enough, add a tiny bit of water to get it back to it’s original consistency.
