Slow Cooker Meatball Subs need just 4 ingredients and the whole family is going to love them. Frozen meatballs cooked in marinara sauce and served on toasted sub rolls with melted provolone cheese on top.

These Slow Cooker Meatball Subs are one of the easiest dinners you will ever make. Just 4 ingredients and they start with frozen meatballs! They cook in marinara sauce for a few hours and then just pile them on sub rolls, top with sliced cheese, and broil just until the cheese is melted.
They take just minutes to prep and minutes to assemble! It's just an easy recipe all around.
Quickly roast some vegetables or put together a quick salad and you've done dinner done!

Ingredients
- Frozen meatballs - use your favorite brand of frozen meatballs or make your own homemade. If using homemade, go ahead and cook them completely before beginning. If they aren't frozen, they may not need to cook as long.
- Marinara sauce - use your favorite store-bought marinara sauce or homemade marinara.
- Sub rolls - you could use hamburger buns, ciabatta rolls, whatever your preferred bread for hot sandwiches is. I like to toast mine for this recipe so that the bread doesn't immediately become too soggy.
- Provolone cheese - I like provolone for meatball subs but you could use mozzarella slices too.

How To Make Slow Cooker Meatball Subs
- Prep. Add frozen meatballs and marinara sauce to slow cooker. Toss to combine.
- Cook. Cook on high for 2 - 3 hours or low for 4 - 5 hours, until meatballs are heated through.
- Assemble. Toast bread if desired. Pile meatballs onto bottom bun and top with 2 provolone cheese slices.
- Broil. Place on a baking sheet and broil until cheese is melted.

How Long Are They Good For?
The meatballs in the marinara sauce will be good for up to 3 days. Make sure to store them in an airtight container in the fridge to keep them as fresh as possible.
When you are ready to reheat, you can do it in the microwave, on the stove, or even put them back in the slow cooker.
Assembled sandwiches will technically be good for several days in the fridge but the bread will get soggy and won't be very tasty.
Can You Freeze It?
You can freeze the meatballs and sauce for up to 3 months. Let them cool completely and then transfer them to an airtight container, like a freezer ziploc bag and place in freezer.
When you are ready to serve, let them defrost overnight in the fridge and reheat as desired.
You can also freeze the sub rolls if you have leftovers. I would wrap each roll individually in plastic wrap and then place in freezer ziploc bags. They can defrost at room temperature when you are ready to use them.
