This air fryer chicken is a current favorite in my house. It’s crispy chicken with a creamy, cheesy, garlic sauce. And it’s all ready in about 30 minutes!
Why You Will Love Creamy Garlic Parmesan Chicken
- Air fried chicken is super crispy without deep frying!
- It’s quick and easy, the chicken only needs to cook for 6 minutes per side and the sauce comes together just as fast!
- It’s creamy, delicious, and full of so much flavor.
Ingredients
- Chicken breasts – if your store sells thin cut chicken breasts, go for those. Otherwise, you will be butterflying the chicken breasts.
- All-purpose flour
- Grated parmesan
- Salt and black pepper
- Garlic powder
- Butter
- Olive oil
- Onion
- Whole garlic – you should end up with 10 – 12 cloves of garlic
- Heavy cream
- Chicken broth
- Grated parmesan
- Fresh parsley
Instructions
- Prepare chicken. Butterfly chicken by cutting in half horizontally, to create 2 thin slices.
- Season chicken. Season the chicken on both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Coat chicken. In a shallow bowl mix all-purpose flour and parmesan. Coat the chicken in flour and parmesan mixture, shake off excess.
- Air fry chicken. Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 180-degree C / 350-degrees F. Brush the basket with little oil and place 2 chicken pieces in it. Brush some oil on the top. Cook for 6 minutes on each side. Repeat with the rest of the chicken.
- Make the sauce. Heat a pan and add oil and butter. Add onions and sauté it until soft and translucent, next add the peeled whole garlic cloves and cook for a few seconds until the garlic cloves are lightly browned from outside.
- Add liquids. Add chicken broth and let it simmer for 5 minutes (until it reduces to half) Reduce the heat to low. Pour cream and let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until the flavors are all combined in the gravy.
- Add cheese and pepper. Mix in parmesan and continue cooking again for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts and the sauce is creamy and bubbly. Season with black pepper.
- Add chicken. Add in the air-fried chicken and cook for a couple of minutes to soak up all the flavors.
- Serve. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot with pasta.
How Long Is It Good For?
Creamy garlic parmesan chicken will be good for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. Make sure to store it in an airtight container – these glass airtight containers are our favorite for leftovers.
I recommend reheating in the microwave when you are ready to serve. If the sauce has thickened too much, a splash of chicken broth or water will help.
What To Serve With It
I like to serve this with something that will soak up all that delicious sauce. Mashed potatoes, rice, or even pasta all work! Bread on the side is also delicious in the sauce.
A side salad or other green vegetable is also delicious with it.
